Sara Shoka, PT, DPT
Sara Shoka is the Director of Physical Therapy of Grossmont Orthopedic Medical Group. Sara recently moved from Canada to the San Diego area. She is licensed both in the State of California and Michigan. Sara attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Nutrition and Food Science, a Bachelor of Health Science with focus in Physical Therapy and most recently a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Sara graduated in December of 2016 and has since been practicing as a Physical Therapist.
Sara began her career in an outpatient orthopedic clinic where she gained experience working with patients of all ages and ailments. Sara has worked with middle school, high school and collegiate athletes as well as the geriatric population where focus was on balance, ambulation and functional mobility. Sara’s training includes patient care in the inpatient rehabilitation setting treating individuals with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, post-operative joint replacements, spinal surgeries and multiple bone fractures. Other training includes care in an acute care setting with individuals with neurological conditions and individuals in cardiac ICU.
Sara has continued her education in the past four years by taking courses, including but not limited to, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine evaluation and treatment courses for spinal pain and limitations through The McKenzie Institute. In addition, she has also taken courses involving gait analysis and running biomechanics via a course called “When the Feet Hit the Ground Running.” She continues to pursue continuing education courses in order to further advance her skills and knowledge.
